It’s a cruel, cruel summer
- Writing: Inspiration hit HARD and I’m blitzing out something new. Loved writing it, still love writing it. We’ll see if anything comes of it.
- Reading: more Austen.
- Watching: haven’t hatewatched Persuasion on Netflix. Normally with pieces of infamously ‘bad’ media, I tend to consume them myself to form my own opinion. However, at some point during adulthood, I developed an awareness – like most do – that life is short, time is limited, and so I have to allocate my time wisely. This is the first time in a long time that I’ve watched a trailer, and read the reviews, and decided that I trust others’ opinions. On my deathbed, I doubt I’ll be lamenting not watching this. Instead I heartily recommend: Persuasion 1995, 1970, 2007 in that order, and literally every other Austen adaptation you might think of, including this reprehensible fever dream from 2003 and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
- Music: Still revelling in Florence + the Machine’s latest album. Found a 80s Brit playlist (lots of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Kate Bush, and even some Bananarama) which was great. Discover the classics 😉
